Kunsthaus folder.
The brief.
The Kunsthaus needed a folder — eighteen spaces, one voice — for an anniversary exhibition. The architects had a rule and so did we: no blue-hour fakery, no empty lobbies shot at dawn to dodge the public. The building is used all day, so the pictures would show it used all day.
The approach.
We shot over three overcast days, which in Germany in October is less a schedule than a certainty. Overcast skies are a gift for concrete: the building becomes its own softbox and the stairwells read exactly as they feel. A tilt-shift lens kept the verticals honest, and we waited — sometimes twenty minutes — for each room to empty just enough to feel inhabited rather than abandoned.
Visitors appear in eleven of the eighteen frames. The architects fought us on none of them, which tells you everything about working with people who actually like their building.

The folder became the exhibition's visual identity.
Six frames were printed at two metres for the anniversary show, and the folder now anchors the foundation's press kit. Two further museum commissions followed — both, notably, also scheduled for October.
